Zionsville entrepreneur creates Airbnb-like concept for tiny homes

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – Within less than 400 square feet lies every item needed to complete one’s daily routine – a bathroom, bed, kitchen and living space: This is the average tiny house.

One Zionsville woman wants to upgrade the tiny house experience and help dwellers change their scenery with her new business, Try It Tiny.

A leap of faith: ZWORKS environment inspires entrepreneur to launch Nested Spaces home staging service

When Whitney Vredenburgh received the Leap of Faith Award from zWORKS in November, it seemed fitting for a woman who was inspired to build her business after watching entrepreneurs in the coworking space succeed in their own businesses.

Vredenburgh had been working in marketing and sales for an agricultural company when became a member of zWORKs when it opened almost two years ago as an alternative to her home office. She soon became intrigued by the possibility of building her own company.

zWORKS entrepreneur’s app streamlines event security

With safety and security among top issues for meeting planners, according to the International Association of Venue Managers, a Carmel entrepreneur has created an app to help event planners and operators quickly respond to a variety of potential issues, ranging  from a lost child to an active shooter.

Playbook is the first product launched by Jim Martin’s company, Venue Intelligence. The app allows event organizers, venue operators and first responders to quickly share information electronically.

Zionsville’s zWORKS welcomes first executive director

Zionsville co-working space zWORKS has named Kate Swanson as its first executive director.

“It was perfect timing,” said Swanson who previously worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the campaigns of local Republicans.

“I’ve always had a real interest in entrepreneurship and business advocacy,” Swanson said. “I have a real interest in the startup sector and giving them the resources they need to grow.”

US Rep. Brooks visits zWORKS

Indiana Congresswoman Susan Brooks visited Zionsville Tuesday, Aug. 30, to learn more about zWORKS and the entrepreneurs who work there.

Brooks was accompanied by Zionsville Mayor Tim Haak and Zionsville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Julie Johns-Cole on a tour of the year-old facility. She not only saw the physical layout of the building but spent most of her time chatting one on one with entrepreneurs based at zWORKS, an entrepreneurial center and co-working space in Zionsville’s downtown.
