Entrepreneurial program gives startups exposure at zWORKS

An Indianapolis startup program based at The Speak Easy in Broad Ripple brought their interest to Zionsville in early November.

1 Million Cups is a pitch program that runs every Wednesday morning, hearing various entrepreneurs’ stories and ideas. Each founder presents for six minutes and has a 20-minute question-and-answer session with the audience.

1MC came to Zionsville’s zWORKS on Nov. 8 to listen to two Zionsville startups pitch their businesses.

Water-testing startup wins $100K in pitch competition

A Zionsville-based startup that specializes in water quality technology and testing made the biggest splash Thursday night at the Rise of the Rest pitch competition, scoring the winner-take-all $100,000 prize.

Founded in 2016, 120WaterAudit was one of 10 firms chosen to deliver pitches to a panel including AOL co-founder and tech investor Steve Case, who brought his Rise of the Rest bus tour to Indianapolis on Thursday to visit innovative local companies and host the pitch competition.

New club aims to bring technology to Zionsville youth

A local startup is launching a new kind of after-school group for Zionsville’s youth: a CoderDojo.

Clear Software, a Zionsville-based company that began operating out of the zWorks building in 2015, will run the new group. CoderDojo, they hope, will provide children and teens with learning opportunities in coding, robotics and other high tech fields that the company’s founders believe are vital for the future.

zWORKS hosts 1st bootcamp

Some business-minded students are doing more than hosting lemonade stands this summer. More than a dozen students gathered at zWORKS in Zionsville on Friday, June 2, for an entrepreneurial boot camp. Many of these will spend the next eight-weeks interning with zWORK businesses.

Zionsville entrepreneur creates Airbnb-like concept for tiny homes

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – Within less than 400 square feet lies every item needed to complete one’s daily routine – a bathroom, bed, kitchen and living space: This is the average tiny house.

One Zionsville woman wants to upgrade the tiny house experience and help dwellers change their scenery with her new business, Try It Tiny.
