Pitch Night is a competition for entrepreneurs to present their business plans to gain exposure in front of investors and the local community. This interactive and fun pitch event will allow five entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their ventures to a panel of experts for valuable feedback and prizes.

Each startup will pitch their idea to the audience and panel, and the winner will receive free work-space an entire year! Applications are due September 11, 2019. All applicants will be notified the week of September 18.

Tickets are $25 and include admission, parking and heavy appetizers. A cash bar is also available. Proceeds from ticket sales are re-invested in programming for Boone County entrepreneurs offered by zWORKS and the Boone EDC.

In light of the tragedy that our community experienced last Friday, we are canceling MemberFest this Friday.

Nameless Catering will be providing lunch at our Cedar Street location on Friday from 11 AM – 1 PM. This will still allow a chance for members to get together and network. Event programs will be printed and distributed around the facility, and a caricature artist will be on-site for some fun! We are working with those individuals who had purchased booth sponsorships and hope to have some of them present for Friday’s luncheon, as well. Tshirts will be for sale all day on Friday and online sales coming soon.

If you have purchased a ticket, you will receive your zWORKS T-shirt (a $15 value). You have the option of donating the additional $10 to zWORKS (a nonprofit 501(c)(3) or contact Kate Swanson kswanson@zworks.org and she will happily refund your $10.

Summer Internship students will take part in an entrepreneurial bootcamp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 1. Activities include an entrepreneurial 101 session, inspiring startup stories and helpful tips from Apprenace to make your internship successful.

Using Business Credit will cover pros and cons of different lending options like lines of credit, installment loans, etc. and what different financial institutions look for.

Executive Director Barb Ellsworth will be talking about this national event inviting people to donate suits they do not wear. This is the second year the firm is hosting a Suit Drive at and for zWORKS members. Indy Classic Cleaners is a sponsor and will pick up/clean donated suits.

April 8-13 is the annual Send One Suit Week event. Women who are job seeking receive appointments and are “suited” via a personal shopper. Cash donations also are welcome and will be used to purchase clothing for the DFSI boutique on Meridian St.

zWORKS will be hosting the ZCHS entrepreneurial club Shark Tank event on Monday, March 5. Watch aspiring high school entrepreneurs pitch their businesses to the seasoned zW judges.

Judges include Andy Clark (250ok), Matt Prasek (Safekeeping), Megan Glover (120WaterAudit), Jacob Schpok (Elevate Ventures), and Paul McCoy (ActionCoach).
